My God

I got a call yesterday afternoon from my friend Jeff advising me of some potential content for the site. Before telling me what it was he kept saying that it may not be what I’m looking for, then he dropped this bomb:

pre-batter.jpg

Yep. Battered and deep-fried White Castle cheeseburgers.

I have no idea what kind of batter they used but it looks almost as scary as the oil in which the glorious burgers were fried.

But whatever, right? My bros had the vision. They took the initiative to step outside of the norm, thinking outside of the crave case if you will, and take this shit to another level. I honestly can’t imagine what else is in the future for Grocery Eats but I’m sure as hell excited. Stay tuned homies.

My god this shit looks both disgusting and delicious.

Apple Bottom Jeans

So I just got this gig at Skybox which is owned by Nelly, Marshall Faulk, Darius Miles and Larry Hughes. I start there tonight and was wandering around the web for the address and check out what I came across:

My guess is chocolate.

Koolickle Test Update

I just know these motherfuckers aren’t going to get any more red. It’s been over 3 weeks and I have a feeling that a brine change is in order.

BBQ Pulled Pork Pancakes

BBQ Pulled Pork Pancakes
By MF Grocery

Tonight Sarah and I decided to have homemade buttermilk pancakes for dinner. She went the old school route topping her’s with maple syrup and butter. I however chose a different path by topping two pancakes with delicious bbq pulled pork.

Here is a shot of the winning pancake. I mean, look at the smoke ring!

And runner up, maple syrup dude.

Pizzaburger

I can’t take credit for this idea, as it was concocted and made real by my friends Josh and Dustin. A party was planned, and the food item that became its centerpiece is still talked about today. It was the pizzaburger: two Totino’s pizzas, a pack of cheese slices and a lot of ground beef. I feel lucky to have taken part in demolishing it, but after the jump are some pictures so you can live vicariously through our gastronomical dreams.

First, the meat. If I remember correctly it was in the 5-6 pound range. Not easy to handle on the grill.

This is Josh. Look how happy a person can be when their seemingly impossible dream comes to fruition. We almost lost the patty in pieces when it was flipped (with a cutting board).

Once flipped, around a dozen cheese slices were peeled from the plastic and set on top of the burger to melt.

I don’t have any action shots of the creation of the actual burger, but it was pretty simple. We baked two Totino’s four meat pizzas (pepperoni, bacon, sausage) and placed one on the serving tray. With the cheeseburger placed on top, it was crowned like a king with the second pizza. Dustin looks relieved and ridiculously hungry.
