I live in Japantown so sometimes I eat this for breakfast/brunch. It’s Mentaiko Spaghett. It’s just simple pasta with a light tomato sauce, cod fish roe and some seaweed tossed on top. It’s damn good too. The roe adds an interesting texture but I think the seaweed is what really makes it. Nothing super heavy or oily either. Great for lunch.
The only thing that sucks is that I have to put up with this resturant, On The Bridge, and it’s probably the most awkward service I have ever experienced. It never gets better, it’s fucking slow as shit, unattentive waiters and an weird layout. The spot is in the japantown mall which has a bridge that connects two buildings across Webster Street. They got manga books linning the walls incase you want to flip through some anime porn while your waiter bringing you the second set of silverware for no goddamn apparent fucking reason. I have never been able to get these people to bring me a the check. Everytime I have to get up and chase a motherfucker down, which is retarded because this place is a hallway so if these fucks would pay some goddamn attention they would notice that I finished my meal already. Whatever though, I like the spaghetti so I deal with it. They also make pizza which is interesting, especially if you like pizza with fish cakes as a topping. I don’t know what the fuck inspired that but they make it. It’s not the best resturant, their curry isn’t great. The garlic fries are hella greasey too.

I live in Dallas and work in Arlington, so it’s limited. I wish that they had that here. I would try japanese spaghetti!
I just ate Sushi Domo last night, and man, talk about tasty! It was like a motherfucking taste explosion! Wasabi mayonnaise is where it’s at!

My one time eating at this place was pretty terrible, the curry sucked and the walls covered in anime posters was kind of offputting.
That said, that kind of pasta and pizza is really common in Japan. What I don’t get is that it’s terrible here in Japan, I can’t imagine why people would want to eat it in the US.

yeah one of the nice things about San Francisco is you got a lot of options for food.
I’ve never had the curry at On The Bridge but I’ve heard it’s bad. The au gratin isn’t special either. I first had the spaghetti just out of curiosity. I really expected it to suck so I was surprised to enjoy it as much as I did.
I don’t mind the anime posters in that place, don’t think it helps make the place appealing but they don’t bother me. My wife was surprised to be flipping through the manga and coming across some prepubescent boy playing with his balls in one of them. I thought it was hilarious though.

Mums House of Shabu Shabu is the jam. My girl threw my birthday party there this year and we got the all you can eat/drink 2 hour time limit. I thought they would be stingy, but these fools brought us each a full bottle of hot sake and a 22 of Sapporo to start. We kept em running hard that night!

Ate here once. Had one of the au gratin jams. Not too shabby, but then again I haven’t been back. We went with a party of 7 heads and had them flipping out on how to seat us together. My coworker swears by this spot, says it’s her favorite restaurant.
