March 1, 2009There’s something really comforting about hearty foods in the Winter. Last time I was at the farmer’s market I came across a really good deal on a whole pork loin from a regional farm. I decided to go all out and marinate the loin in Anchor Steam Christmas Ale that I had left over and some Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. I divided the loin in two and placed everything in a zip lock bag and put it in the fridge for 24 hours.

December 26, 2008My wife is a vegetarian and holiday dinner’s usually suck for her. Her sister in-law isn’t the wisest and as a result she ends up with fucking mashed potatoes, corn and shitty mushroom gravy out of a can. This year we didn’t want to visit anyone for this bullshit jesus day(I’m trying to get that shit out of my life completely) instead we stayed home and I decided to boss up with a vegetarian meal. In doing so I found a recipe for some roasted garlic gravy and tried it. I was kind of amazed at myself at how well this turned out. (more…)

Oh man I don’t give a fuck about the holidays. Christmas is worthless jesus shit for kids, thanksgiving is a celebration of bullshit too. This time of year just sucks because my tv wants to sell me on snowglobes full of lies. The only thing I actually like about the holidays is fucking Tamale Day, it’s the best shit in the world. I don’t know how you can go wrong with it. Get your friends together, a lot of beer, masa and multiple tubs of pork fat. How can that not be a success? (more…)

Your Hummus Sucks

A few years ago my employer held a cocktail hour at Mihalis Chophouse. The event took place immediately after one of our big company events and it was supposed to be a show of gratitude for all of the hard work we put in that year. So I stood around drinking free cognacs for a while and noticed some of the employees grazing on appetizers. After a quick look at the menu I ordered the hummus plate because I wasn’t paying for shit. (more…)
