I’d heard about Kitchenette from the internets a couple of times. It’s a spot out in the dogpatch, south of Mission Bay were I go a lot of times for work. As a result I was curious, then yesterday I saw their lunch menu for today: (more…)

So my friend EJ got a new roommate; as a result we decided to welcome Bloomillions to SF with a little gathering of food and drink. EJ’s initial plan was to run a taco bar but then I suggest we BBQ also. (more…)

Years ago when Sarah and I were dating I was invited to her Dad’s house for Christmas dinner. He and his 3rd or 4th wife (I forget) cooked a pork loin on their rotisserie way too long and that fucking thing was like eating sawdust. Luckily there was some applesauce on the table so I dipped a cut of my pork loin in there before every bite. I looked around and it seemed to catch on because nobody was saying shit except asking people to “pass the applesauce”.
So here I took the classic pork and apples to another level by making a sandwich using pan-seared, thin cut pork chops seasoned with salt, black pepper and minced rosemary- the buns consisted of assorted apple pastries.
When I was in Austin last month my dude Papi Babylon told me to hit up Burger Tex by the UT campus for a Korean bulgogi burger. Dude was on point with the other recommendations so we stopped by for a burger and happened to make history.

On Friday I went to JB’s Place over in Potrero Hill. The menu said they made a chili cheese dog sandwich so I ate it. I tried to pick it up but that didn’t work out too well. Only thing about it that kind of sucked was the bread was tuff to eat after it got soggy. That shit needs to be a soft roll because ripping apart a sandwich full of chili cheese gets messy as fuck.
Saturday I went to Los Jarritos and ate some chilaquiles. They were really good. First time I’d been to this spot for breakfast but they were doing it hella proper. Chilaquiles are pretty much the best thing you can eat for breakfast. The best way to describe them is to think of breakfast nachos with eggs, sometimes meat. They are kind of like Migas but not really. Either way if you don’t know then get learned because they are the truth.

For lunch I decided to finally stop by this Taco Truck over in Potrero Hill. I’d seen it but the name threw me off, Liz & Gaby. I just imagined some old lesbian couple running the shit, I’m talking like grey haired buzz cuts, wear crocs, and ride harleys. You know, Liz and Gaby, after their trip to mexico where they bought wooden dolls and went on hikes for a Teva experience. Well they decided to open their own taco truck. Problem is they can’t cook, so inside of the truck we have to latino dudes and no old lesbian couples to be found. (more…)
A few years ago my employer held a cocktail hour at Mihalis Chophouse. The event took place immediately after one of our big company events and it was supposed to be a show of gratitude for all of the hard work we put in that year. So I stood around drinking free cognacs for a while and noticed some of the employees grazing on appetizers. After a quick look at the menu I ordered the hummus plate because I wasn’t paying for shit. (more…)
Fucking A. If you live in St. Louis and don’t suck then you’ve probably been to Mammer Jammer. Right around the corner from Natural Bridge and Kingshighway, this spot has been killin’ the St. Louis cheese steak game for years. (more…)
