And I present you the Zilla Burger

No relation to TumZilla. This is one of Ryan Farr’s joints that he was serving this past Sunday at Elixir where he is usually curb serving some champ hot dogs. You can see a regular burger in the background. This wasn’t even mine, my friend Kyle rocked this one. It’s basically a Farr’s double cheeseburger with money sauce and a mountain of chicharron piled on top.

The regular ones are not that big of a burger which is nice cause you can put away a few but it’s bigger than a slider though. I had a regular burger and a zilladog which is his own hotdog with chicharron, kimchi, money sauce on an acme roll. Both were on point, the meat in the burger was so fresh and right off the grill gave it such a banging flavor. I definitely cosign out of this burger. I thought about getting the zilla burger too but decided against getting fat this weekend, I already had plenty of pork to polish off at home. At some point though I am definitely going to put that zillaburger in my stomach.

Dos de Buche y Uno de Lengua

If you don’t know, buche is a stomach lining, figured I should clear that up.

I stopped in a Taqueria Vallarta for the first time in a long time. The first time I came here was on Christmas years ago after kicking it at my friends radio show. My homie Marz knew they were open so we stopped by wrecked some tacos and then went across to the Treat Bar, which is no more, and put away some redneck special, shot of whiskey and a pbr for 3 bucks or something retarded. I hadn’t been since the taco cart got moved from the sidewalk to inside the restaurant. SF health inspector is a bitch like that, always fronting on someone for trying to slang good food on the street.

I’ve never had anything else there but tacos from the cart, it’s a good look too. Basically it’s a warming dome for tortillas and all around the base sits a variety of meats simmering away. Add the salsa, cilantro, onions and whatever other accessories you need yourself. Super cheap, I think 3 tacos and a jarritos runs you like 3.25

The Carmen Steak

My Italian godfather makes soppressada (or supersata) in his basement every fall. Being that he lives in North East Pennsylvania, he’s been experimenting with venison this past season.

They say 3oz. of that shit will take 3 years off your life. I mean it is some salty, hard salami-like, fatty stuff. They coarsely press the super, so it’s a lot rougher and more chewy than most salamis. And that it’s made with pork fat and venison, it has a gamier taste than any other super I’ve ever had.

A few slices and a piece of dry cheese along with a glass of wine have been said to be a great Tuscan summer meal. What do I know about Tuscany? Nay’than. I do know this stuff is good and needed to be mixed in a cheese steak though.

I’ll let the pictures do the talking. The ingredients are pretty simple; steak um, prosciutto, supersata, onions, mushrooms, and some crazy cheese sauce, an egg, and a prayer.

Biscuit and Gravy Cheeseburger

A late night trip to Waffle House after our monthly homebrew club meeting resulted in this masterpiece.

My homie Dave wanted biscuits and gravy and a cheeseburger, then decided it was probably a good idea to combine everything he liked about both into one hilarious sandwich. I’m not going to explain whats on this shit because the picture speaks for itself.

LOL at the tomato. I suggested adding the pickle and was given the “are you fucking serious” look. Whatever though I would’ve included that shit and maybe some mustard or something.

I just had some Bert’s chili and half a bottle of Tabasco sauce plus longer than normal toilet time this morning. Thanks Waffle House!

Today I Ate at a Loading Dock

4 pics

I’d heard about Kitchenette from the Internets a couple of times. It’s a spot out in the dogpatch, south of Mission Bay were I go a lot of times for work. As a result I was curious, then yesterday I saw their lunch menu for today:

Dogpatch Menu: Tuesday 05/12

beer & orange braised pork torta organic pinto bean spread, avocado, queso fresco, pickled spring onions, cilantro, jalapeno…pickle jar cauliflower $8.50

long cooked broccoli baguette fromage blanc spring onion olivada $6.50

star route farms little gems cucumbers, roasted peppers, croutons $5.-

4505’s spicy chicharrones $3.-

maple bacon snickerdoodles $1.-

strawberry rhubarb refresher $2.-

I am a fan of tortas so it was going down. Rolled down there around 11:45 and saw a couple off people standing in front of a loading dock waiting. The setup isn’t anything fancy you walk up to the loading dock, order your shit and wait. They got some benches so you can chill there and eat or get it to go. I rode my bike down there so I ate on the bench. I ordered the torta, chicharrones, maple bacon snickerdoodle, and a strawberry rhubarb drink. I got the chicharrones, snickerdoodle and drink first. Kicked it on the bench while I waited for the torta.

I’ve had these 4505 chicharrones before and you should cop if you see them, a little bit of spice with that awesome crunch of fried cracklins, great stuff. The snickerdoodle was cool, I usually don’t fuck with cookies because I think that shit’s for kids. Regardless it was cool, not overly sweet with hints of bacon, well until I got to the middle and bit into the small piece of bacon in the center. That was kind of weird, not foul or anything just odd eating a cookie with a piece of bacon. More
